Biography
Scottish physician, an obstetrician and surgeon knighted for his progressive methods in his respect for the human life. Simpson was the first to use chloroform to ease childbirth. A biography was written by his father, Alan F. Guttmacher, published in 1947 and titled, "The Story of Human Birth."
Simpson died 5/06/1870.
