Biography
British sketch comedian of memorable TV series. He was a contributor to the Cambridge Footlight revues where he met Mel Smith in 1979. They became comedic partners for a number of years, working together in "Not the Nine O'clock News" from March 1980 thru March 1982. From 1984 to 1992 they ran their memorable comedy series, "Alas Smith and Jones" in which their head-to-head sketches of idiocy were hilarious.
